Answers is a nationwide network of financial service providers. It was set up in 2017 by a group of experienced financial services professionals who wanted to create a more supportive network for New Zealand’s top advisers, partnerships and companies.
Answers is structured as a co-op. As a result, you’ll share the fruits of ownership and won’t be adversely affected by decisions made by a favoured few. Our rules only allow changes to the Answers constitution if at least 85% of members agree. We also have an Advisory Board representing Members, shareholders and at least one independent outsider to provide fresh perspectives and a transparent forum.
Only 100 entities (i.e. sole operators, partnerships or companies) will be allowed to join Answers. Once we have 100 Members the doors will close. Naturally we’re being selective about who we ask to join – we only want the top performers with the best reputations in the sector. As you can imagine, this places you in some pretty select company.
As a Member of Answers you’ll be able to realise the value of the business you’ve created by selling all or part of it to the co-op. You’ll receive a payout and the co-op will be adding an asset that provides a new revenue stream to the group. That’s a win/win in anyone’s books.
Socialising and glad-handing are fun but we go further. The Answers annual conference will deliver content and IP that’s relevant to business owners and high performers like yourself.
Answers was set up in 2017 by Greg Barratt and Simon Fisher – two experienced professionals in the financial sector who wanted to provide a more effective network for their fellow advisers.
Greg entered the financial services industry in 1998 on his return to New Zealand after a 10-year stint in the Australian Army. In 2003 he set up his own brokerage, which grew to become Preferred NZ, with a team of 12. By building relationships with different industries such as real estate and accountancy firms, Greg developed several innovative and highly productive new referral systems, which in turn fuelled the growth of his business. This opened his eyes to the potential of a new kind of financial services group.
“I set up Answers to provide a more supportive network for financial advisers who are ill-served by their current groups,” he says. “Answers exists to back the high performers who make up its membership. With our unique co-op structure, everyone adds value and every Member benefits from the success of every other Member – and no one has to cede control. It’s the best of both worlds.”
Greg is based in the Manawatu, where he enjoys life on a lifestyle block with his family when he is not working with clients and fellow Answers Members.
With over two decades of experience in the corporate financial sector as well as a successful career in sales, Simon has a unique perspective on what it takes to deliver results. He has managed operations for some of the largest financial services firms in New Zealand and been responsible for many high-performing teams.
This combination of sales and operational know-how means he is perfectly placed to set-up and run the systems that drive success for all Answers Members.
“I’ve been on committees and worked in offices with the companies that supply our product,” he says. “It’s about working with them constructively, to ensure a frictionless relationship with the guys in the front line. They need to know the backroom processes are there to support their productivity.”
Simon oversees day-to-day operations from the Answers head office in Auckland, where he lives with his family.
